Name: Elizabeth
Favorite quote: “No!”
Story behind the character: Elizabeth is Sara's best friend who
helps in destroying Jonathan's chess board.
Charity: So....
Elizabeth: You... you dare call me “lizard-breath?”
Charity: Why do I have the feeling that my characters have been
getting angry with me lately?
Elizabeth: You dare call me “lizard-breath?!”
Charity: Look, I didn't call you “lizard-br”-
Elizabeth: Don't give me that! You're the one who wrote the story,
you have control of what happens.
Charity: My characters from The End of Chess appear to be very
unstable. Perhaps it's because I wrote it over a period of five
years? Or maybe because I wrote it during a time when I myself was
most likely rather unstable.
Elizabeth: Don't ignore me!
Charity: Yes. Probably it's because I was so young when I wrote
them. I forgot to give them a free will. I had too much control. The
characters are the ones who write the story. The authors are only the
ones who create the characters and guide them on their way. But once
a character is created, they shouldn't be manipulated or controlled.
Otherwise they lose their sense of individuality.
Elizabeth: You're still ignoring me!
Charity: Ah, well. If only I had known back then....
Elizabeth: Hey!
Charity: Yes?
Elizabeth: … Nevermind! I don't want to talk to you anyway!
